Logitech Paintshow Plus
Commonly asked questions
4/16/92
1) My printer is not on the printer support list. Will I be able to print
from Paintshow Plus?
Check the printer user's manual to see if your printer will emulate other
printer types listed on the printer support list of PaintShow Plus.
2) How can I change the settings of Paintshow (i.e. Video, Printer, Ports)?
Enter the following:
a) Go to the PSPLUS directory
CD\PSPLUS
b) Type INSTALL [Enter]
c) The screen will show your current configuration. To change, select:
2. CHANGE CURRENT SETTINGS.
d) To change Video mode select:
1. SETUP VIDEO MODE
and then select the appropriate video mode.
To change Printers select:
2. SETUP PRINTER
then select the appropriate printer. Next, enter the Target Drive
Paintshow Plus is on.
e) Once you've made the changes you desire, select:
4. SAVE CURRENT SETTINGS TO THE WORKING DIRECTORY.
f) Then select
5. RETURN TO MAIN MENU
g) Select Quit
3) Will PaintShow Plus be able to handle an 8 1/2" by 11" image at 300 dpi?
No, there won't be enough available memory to hold an image that large. For
example: on a system with 640 K RAM, the maximum amount of available RAM for
an image is 256 K (maximum RAM left after Paintshow Plus is loaded) minus
RAM used for resident software. Assuming a typical configuration with
roughly 50 K of resident software, a picture with maximum length of 10.5
inches at a resolutioin of 200 dpi can be produced.
RAM requirments can be calculated used the following formula:
Length" x Width" x DPI
-----------------------------------
8 x 1024
4) What causes graphic disturbances, such as a disappearing mouse cursor,
distorted menu text, vertical lines on the drawing board area, or screen
erasing when you move the mouse cursor?
Most of these problems are due to an incompatibility between the mouse driver
and the video display (i.e., the mouse driver you are using doesn't
support your video mode).

If you have one of the mouse drivers listed above and are still experiencing
display problems, check to make sure that the video BIOS (Basic Input/Output
System) is current, particulary with EGA and VGA Boards. Contact the video
manufacturer for information on video BIOS upgrades.
Other factors which can cause display problems are resident software or old
Motherboard BIOS.
